Assistant Commissioner at the Kenya Revenue Authority
Eutycus Kariuki is an Assistant Commissioner at the Kenya Revenue Authority, an agency of the Ministry of Finance. He has been Project Manager of iTax, an IT system that revolutionised domestic tax administration and launched by H.E. The President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta in October 2013. Eutycus is a co-author of the book “Revenue Administration Reforms in Kenya (2010)” and has been a member of the East African Revenue Authorities Technical Committee (EARATC) which advises Ministries of Finance in the region on various fiscal policy and tax administration developments. Currently based in the Large Taxpayers Office he has vast experience in tax investigations, intelligence and risk. He has previously worked with the Inland Revenue, New Zealand in Wellington as an Assistant Policy Analyst and is also a former elected President of AIESEC University of Nairobi.
Eutycus is a recipient of the prestigious 2005 African Development Bank/World Bank scholarship and holder of an M.A. Economics Degree from the University of Tsukuba, Japan and B.A. Economics Degree from University of Nairobi. He is a Registered Certified Public Accountant of Kenya CPA(K) and graduate of the U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Training Centre (FLETC), Brunswick, Georgia in Digital Forensics and Investigations.
He has also published a paper titled “Human Capital Accumulation and Mortality in Kenya 2007” which endeared him to the area of funding in health, education and human capital in Eastern Africa. Eutycus has been passionately involved in SHOFCO since the first chance meeting with the founders and is proud to be part of the SHOFCO advisory board.
